A Service Project for Teenagers: Take TEMPORARY care of at least two kittens for at least 8 weeks. Up to one "volunteer hour" per day

Image
I am developing a "service project" for students. Many high school students need about 40 hours of service as volunteers.  One way (during a pandemic) is to do the hours at home.  Why not recruit teenagers to be TEMPORARY FOSTER PARENTS of cats and kittens? This program was designed by a high school teacher. This poster is testimony to the passion  of the teacher to promote thinking in students. TinyURL.com/sunDP5 shows how  the Volunteer House can be displayed. The value of additional litter boxes for cats: Let's give more places for cats to pee and poop

Image
What can we do daily, even once an hour, to improve the lives of cats who live with us? Remove poop and pee from the litter box. Two kittens taught me a lesson.  They are part of a grooup of four kittens who were born together and we sleep in a room measuring 12 feet by 11 feet.  There is one litter box.  That box has at least 5 contributions by 3 a.m.  So I got up early to feed some outside gats.  By the time I returned to my home, two of the kittens had found two other litter boxes in the kitchen and left some pee pods.  They were so grateful to find a clean litter box that they walked more than 55 feet (17 meters) to get to these extra litter boxes. I LEARNED TWO LESSONS: (1) add another litter box to the bedroom (2) Clean the litter boxes more often than once a day.  How about "as soon as you wake up, Steve?"   "OUR CATS" Really? If anyone owns anyone, the cats own me.  "The cats who live with me" sounds more accurate than "my cats...

Review of Pet Express Animal Hospital. Five stars out of Five Stars Davie Florida 4200 South University Drive in Florida. 954Pet.com

If you adopt a group of kittens ... the healthcare costs could be significant. Here is a review of an animal hospital that has a wellness plan that fits the group of kittens that I've recently started "fostering." (Can it really be called "FOSTERING" if you give the kittens names?) =================== REVIEW The future of how we will take care of our furry family friends I recently signed up for a wellness package at Pet Express Animal Hospital in Davie Florida and I have seen the future of animal medicine. The choice is between a one-person clinic or a team.  THE ONE-PERSON CLINIC My catMany of us have a dedicated and well-trained vet who watches over our pets. The key downside showed up for me when I noticed that my good furry friend Greenyo had a horrible smell in his mouth. He had thrown up. It was 5:30 on Thursday afternoon and my favorite Matt closed at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. So I remembered seeing Pet Express Animal Hospital on South University Drive in Da...

"the mom and her kittens will stay together. As their time together increases, the bond grows stronger." -- an article in TheNest.com

Adopt the kittens together. That's right. All of them. "What if there are five kittens?" Keep them together. I discovered this principle when I visited an animal rescue and adoption center.  A man brought in a batch of kittens, said that his landlord told him to give up the kittens.  I asked, "Where is the mother?" ANSWER:  The mother has weaned the kittens.  They are three months old, 12 weeks, that's plenty of time to prepare the kittens to be away from the momma. I asked, "If I adopt these kittens as a group, could I borrow the momma for an hour once a week?  Becasue these kittens look in shock.  They look as if they were pulled away from their mom." ANSWER:  The mother cat is a support cat.  I can't imagine being away from my cat. I shrugged my shoulders.  I told the animal tech for the clinic. "How long do I need to focster these kittens?" ANSWER:  Probably a week.  Send me photos of each one and we can get them adopted. ...
